GOLF FACILITY MANAGEMENT SCHOOL TO BE HELD JAN. 13-17, 2002
Jupiter, Fla. -- The National Institute of Golf Management is now accepting registrations for its 2002 golf course management seminar to be
held January 13-17 at the three-star Oglebay Resort and Conference Center in Wheeling, W.Va.
Co-sponsored by the National Golf Foundation (NGF) and the Continuing Education Department at Oglebay, the five-day program is led by
subject experts on all aspects of golf facility management.
Attendees will look at solutions to common problems while also sharpening their business management skills. More than 3,000 golf
managers, superintendents, owners, golf professionals, food and beverage personnel and pro shop personnel have completed this
one-of-a-kind program since its inception in 1984.
Three concurrent seminar programs will address the needs of first-year, second-year and graduate students. Subjects will include golf shop
operations; player development; environmental issues and concerns; computerization and technology; liability and risk management; pace of
play; research tools; marketing; cash and fiscal controls; food and beverage; personnel and customer relations; publicity and promotions; and
golf car operations.
Upon completion of the second-year program attendees will receive 4.8 continuing education credits [CEUs] and graduate students will
receive 2.4 CEUs from North Carolina State University. Members of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, and Club
Managers Association of America may receive CEUs from their respective organizations, as will members of the PGA of America and the
Instructors include subject experts from American Golf Corporation, Club Car, ClubLink, GCSAA, PGA of America and the NGF, as well as
course owners and operators, developers and golf product manufacturers.
Keynote speaker, David Pillsbury, will address the group on Thursday, Jan. 17. Pillsbury is Co-Chief Executive Officer of American Golf
Corporation and serves on NGF's Board of Directors.
